More About The Connecticut Women Real Estate Investors Association
Historically, women have been involved in real estate almost since its inception in 1794 and its establishment as a legitimate business in the 1840s. In real estate's early days, women's skills were used as office and clerical resources, but by the 1880s women were already moving into the roles of agents and brokers, though at a relatively slow rate. Nationwide, women brokers dominate the residential real estate market, but have yet to make a major entrance into the more lucrative commercial market.
WREI is a sub chapter of the CT Real Estate Investors Association. This organization is an opportunity for women to come with your questions and real estate challenges and get real life suggestions and solutions from our participants. There is a wealth of information amongst ourselves. Reach out and get advice. Or better yet, help out a woman in need and contribute your expert experience. Whether you are just beginning or an advanced investor, we all have a unique perspective to share. Let's foster our relationships and let the women unite.
Already have a question in mind? Email us at nfowomenrealesinvtors.org so we may gather frequently asked questions. Or, in the meantime, go to our brand new community forum called womenSPEAK.
Ladies, are you ready to learn about your investment goals and how this sub-chapter can help you achieve them? You can pursue your individual investment goals through education, sharing creative real estate investment ideas, strategies, and creating a stimulating networking environment to nurture those pursuits.
I felt encouraged, uplifted and inspired to get started in this business
Linda Brown / Naugatuck, CT - I attended my first WREIA meeting in Meriden last Wednesday, and it was a great experience! I learned a lot in a very relaxed, fun, supportive atmosphere. I felt encouraged, uplifted and inspired to get started in this business! It was obvious to me that all of the presenters truly want to share what they know and sincerely want other women to succeed. I would recommend this group to any woman looking for a 'first step' to take toward becoming a successful real estate investor! I will be attending from now on. Thanks so much.
The CT Women Real Estate Investors Association is honored to award

After college, after getting her Real Estate License and after she was denied employment from several Real Estate agencies, Victoria set out to opened her own "Women" Real Estate Agency... Which she still owns and operates today! Plus... Several hundred buildings!
Do you know who the first woman millionaire in these United States?
Thinking you don’t have enough to invest to make a difference. Think again...
From Jakarta to Juneau, when women talk about the mistakes they make around money, they always include thinking that the amount they have to invest can’t possibly put them on a path to wealth. Someone should have told that to Madam C. J. Walker, the first female millionaire in the United Sates. Walker, an African American was born in Louisiana in 1867. She started off earning pennies a day as a washerwoman and, through pure determination and self-taught business savvy, parlayed that into a fortune she generously shared with others.
In 1912, Madam C. J. Walker told this to the National Negro Business League Convention:
I am a woman who came from the cotton fields of the South. From there I was promoted to the washtub. From there I was promoted to the cook kitchen. And from there I promoted myself into the business of manufacturing hair goods and preparations... I have built my own factory on my own ground.
