Generating Leads From Craigslist

Social media, online ads, and the Internet have all changed how business is done these days. When you want to be successful using a site like Craigslist, you have to know how to maximize the ads you put on there to create the results you’re after. You can do this easily by taking these six key steps in mind when you create your Craigslist lead generator campaign.

 

Set Up An Account

First you have to have a Craigslist account to utilize the wide open spaces it offers when reaching clients. While you can post ads without an account, the best way to actually track your results is to set your account up from the beginning. Go online to the location of your city and create your Craigslist account.

 

Decide On A Purpose

Your purpose or campaign reason should be decided before creating an ad. This means choosing the type of client you’re after such as those who want to buy foreclosures, new home buyers, first time home buyers, etc. Decide on which group of customers you’re after before setting up your first ad.

 

The Creative Process

Now you need to create the bones of your campaign. This may take as little as 30-minutes or longer than an hour. It shouldn’t take up too much of your time but you do have to be creative. You can not post the same ad over and over again with Craiglist. They will target it as spam if you do and it’s not allowed. Create different ads that you can post on multiple sites to help you generate the leads you’re after.

 

Get to Posting!

After you have your campaign ready to go and you’re ready to find those leads, it’s time to post it on Craigslist. It is recommended that you post at least twice a day during the weekdays and at least once each day of the weekend. Also be sure to post at different times of the day. Craigslist works in a way that the older your ad is, the farther down the page it will be.  You want to keep your ad fresh and at the top of the list. Multiple postings each day helps you achieve that.

 

Be Sure To Follow Up

Depending on the type of information you collect, be sure to follow up with clients that come from your ad. That helps you to generate solid leads and that’s exactly what you’re after. Be sure that you follow up with either email, telephone calls or other methods that you have collected. Maybe you send out a regular list of your products or homes available. In that case, be sure that all your leads generated are on the list to receive your email weekly. That helps you to keep in contact with them and hopefully conduct further business.

 

Track Everything

While this is not always the easy or fun part, it is vital to making sure your ads are working. Track everything you post and the results you get from each listing from the beginning. This will help you to see what ads work, what ads didn’t draw any attention, and what catch phrases seem to work best. It will also help you to determine how many of your actual leads have turned into regular clients instead of just emails you send each week.
