Hi CT REIA,
I have my rental up for rent and was hoping you could recommend a good credit service that can provide all 3 bureaus and the credit score. Is that something you can assist me with?
Congratulations! The first step to a successful tenant is to screen them. I am not sure the tenant screening bureaus will give you the actual credit score because you are not offering credit … but they can tell you if she pays bills.
Here is the link to several tenant screening services.
Also, go to the CT Judicial website and search for the person in all the categories (including criminal, motor vehicle, and housing) to see if anything shows up. Do this first – it is free – but then also use the screening services to catch anything that occurred outside of the state.
For more secrets and rental agreements, be sure to order the Connecticut Apartment Owners Manual. This manual is full of advice, checklists, leases, and forms to assist you in being a successful property owner. The forms are downloadable and editable. (Even if your property is not located in Connecticut, you can adapt everything to your local state.)
