Taking The Real Estate Pulse Of Greater Hartford

Ask any number of real estate professionals in Greater Hartford, and they will agree that overall Connecticut’s real estate market is faring better than the rest of the nation.

Barry Rosa, vice president of Prudential Connecticut Realty and a member of the Connecticut Association of Realtors, said that in Connecticut single-family home prices have come down about three percent.

"Generally speaking, the higher-priced stuff takes a bit longer to sell as opposed to low- or mid-priced," Rosa said. In a high-end community such as Avon, where the median home price is $518,000, it might take longer for a house to sell.

In Hartford County, the median price is $246,000. Breaking it down further, Rosa added that in Hartford County the number of sales is down 21 percent since last year. However, the number of sales in the state is down 27 percent. "It’s a good thing if you’re in Hartford County," he concluded.
